Proposed RSPSoc Special Interest Group - TOPSIG (Technical/Operational Procedures Special Interest Group)

I'm looking to get a new RSPSoc SIG up and running. I'm looking for interested volunteers to join a SIG associated Yahoo group so that I can see what issues might crop up for wider registration.

A new Special Interest Group has been proposed to RSPSoc Council and agreed upon. The Technical/Operational Procedures Special Interest Group or TOPSIG is designed to promote and study the technical procedures utilised in the operational use of remote sensing. The group will look to include, but not be limited to, the following aspects of operational remote sensing:
• hardware;
• networking;
• storage facilities;
• workflows; and
• dissemination methods.

Membership of the Group is open to all members of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society and those outside of RSPSoc with a special interest in the technical and operational aspects of remote sensing. Non-RSPSoc members will be encouraged to join the society.

Being a SIG involved primarily with technology, the group interface will be sited online. For this reason, a Yahoo Group has been set up so that discussions can be held in a secure but collaborative environment, and so that conversations can be visible to all members.

The Group and more information can be found at the following URL: http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/topsig/

Join our TOPSIG

If you would like to be part of the SIG then send an email to topsig-subscribe@yahoogroups.co.uk with no subject or message. You should then get an automated response asking you to validate the account you have sent the subscription request from.

If you already have, or would like to have, a Yahoo account then click on “Join the Group” and follow the instructions on screen. Use of a Yahoo account will enable all the graphical functionality of Yahoo Groups and will allow you to view message threads, submit files, chat with Group members and much more.

If you don't use Yahoo and don't want the associated functionality of being part of the Group then just click on “join the mailing list instead”. This will link your email address into the SIG and you will be able to post messages using topsig@yahoogroups.co.uk and will receive an email copy of any posts made to the graphical Group page. To remove yourself from the mailing list then email topsig-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.co.uk.

If you have any questions about the SIG, or issues subscribing to the Yahoo Group or mailing list then email me at topsigconvenor@ymail.com.

Best wishes,

Alastair Graham, APEM Ltd.
